Koumoundouros tower

A ruined two-storey tower stands between the villages Kampos and Stavropigio, on Garbelias hill. This is a fortified tower/residence of the pre-revolution period, owned by kapetanios Koutifaris and later to Koumoundouros or Koumoundourakis (later Bey of Mani). The tower is renowned mainly due to the fact that it was the parental home of Alexandros Koumoundouros (1815-1883), who was Prime minister of Greece for several years, after the revolution. The round tower, incorporated at the northeast, was possibly a wind mill.
