The church of Analipsi (Αscension of Christ), to the southwest of Filiatra, is one of the most important monuments of the region. It dates to the third quarter of the 13th century, but it was probably founded on a larger, earlier building. The church is cross-vaulted. Its inner sides are arched, to support the vaulting. Most of the upper part of the church and the arches collapsed in the earthquake of 1886. After that, the monument was extensively re-built, with visible signs in its upper section. The original masonry was built with roughly worked poros blocks framed by bricks (cloisonné system). The apse is more elaborately built. The wall paintings are very scantily preserved. Their original layer dates slightly later than the monument’s construction, probably in the last quarter of the 13th century. A second layer is a little later and can be seen mainly in the area west of the altar. The wall paintings on the altar can probably be dated to the 17th century.

Το μνημείο υπέστη στη συνέχεια εκτεταμένη ανακατασκευή, ευδιάκριτη στην ανωδομή του. Τα αρχικά τμήματα τοιχοποιίας είναι κτισμένα από αδρά λαξευμένους πωρόλιθους πλαισιωμένους από πλίνθους (πλινθοπερίκλειστο σύστημα). Με μεγαλύτερη φροντίδα είναι κατασκευασμένη η αψίδα του ιερού βήματος. Ο ζωγραφικός διάκοσμος του ναού διατηρείται πολύ αποσπασματικά. Το αρχικό στρώμα τοιχογραφιών χρονολογείται λίγο μετά την κατασκευή του μνημείου, πιθανόν στο τελευταίο τέταρτο του 13ου αιώνα. Λίγο μεταγενέστερα χρονολογείται ένα δεύτερο στρώμα εικονογράφησης, ευδιάκριτο κυρίως στο χώρο δυτικά του Ιερού. Οι τοιχογραφίες του ιερού χρονολογούνται πιθανόν στον 17ο αιώνα.
