Sculpture Workshop at the Archaeological Site of Ancient Messene

The sculpture workshop jointly organized by COUP D’E’TART (Non-Profit Organization) and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Messenia was successfully completed.
The workshop took place from August 23 to September 13, 2025, in the covered stoa of the Gymnasium–Stadium at the archaeological site of Ancient Messene.

Inspired by the Messenian sculptor Damophon and the city of Ancient Messene, this interactive workshop aimed to revive and highlight traditional stone-carving techniques within a contemporary artistic context.

Our warm thanks go to the 20+ participants who shared with us this unique experience, as well as to the hundreds of visitors for their encouraging feedback.

The sculpture workshop was realized with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the continuous assistance of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Messenia and the security staff of the archaeological site of Ancient Messene.

A shared goal remains the establishment of the workshop as a biennial institution, keeping the city of Ancient Messene vibrant and creative, and thus contributing to the promotion of cultural heritage.
