Themes of Ancient Greek and Traditional Music interwoven with works by Gluck, Debussy, Ravel, Bartók, Ibert, Shankar, Antoniou, and Varotsis
The Municipality of Messini and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Messenia invite you on Sunday, July 23, to the Andromonastiro, for a musical evening dedicated to the Flute and the Harp.
Natalia Geraki and Sissy Makropoulou, internationally renowned soloists, will perform together in a mystical dialogue of sound set in the courtyard of the recently restored Byzantine monastery, a monument revived through the efforts of the Ministry of Culture.
There, before the main gate of the church, nestled among the towers and cells of the monastery and under the deep shade of the trees, the resonance of the Dionysian flute and the Apollonian harp will transport us into a world where Greek, Spanish, French, Romanian, Jewish, and Indian traditions intertwine with ancient Greek myths and Maniote laments.
